FOUR OAKS, N.C. — An Oak Island man died in a wreck in the 300 block of Strickland Crossroads Road in Four Oaks Saturday afternoon, the state Highway Patrol said.

Tami Sue Tart, 51, was driving a Chevrolet Suburban around 4:45 p.m. when she over-corrected and ran off the road, troopers said. She then over-corrected again, causing the back end of the vehicle to come around. The SUV overturned, and a passenger, Clifford Earl Struckman, 34, was ejected.

Troopers said that Struckman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tart, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to WakeMed with non-life-threatening injuries. She was released Sunday.

Authorities said that neither alcohol nor speed were factors in the wreck.
