NY state grants $200k to help Mohawk Valley watershed

— New York state says it will distribute $200,000 for six projects that will help improve water quality and recreational access in the Mohawk River watershed.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation grants are designed to help the eastern New York watershed environmentally and economically.

Some of the grant money will go toward stabilizing a 200-foot (61-meter )section of Ninemile Creek, improving a Mohawk River public access point at Aqueduct Park in Niskayuna and to support the inclusion of watershed-based lessons at area schools.
