Numerous car larcenies reported in Cary

Posted June 18, 2009

— Cary police say they have received 10 reports of larceny from unlocked vehicles in the areas near High House Road at N.C. Highway 55, and Maynard Road at Evans Road.

Items, such CDs, iPods and computers, were stolen during the overnight hours, police said.

To help prevent theft, police are reminding drives to not leave valuables in cars or to lock them in the trunk.

Reminder - lock your doors - cars and houses!

My wife's car, a later 80's Honda Accord, was broken into last year when we first moved to Cary. Apparently the robbers were stupid because they took the cd player and left the GPS which she had accidentally left on the seat.

Of course we leave in the Cary "ghetto" so it doesn't surprise me.

This has happened to us twice in the Waldo Rood/Cary Parkway area. Now that school is out for the summer and bored kids without curfews have more time to roam the streets it'll probably get worse.

Brier Creek was hit at the Arco Offices today. Smash and grabbed a GPS and booked it. Did this during broad daylight this morning.

This happened in Morrisville not long ago. I wonder if it's the same people just moving to different areas as the police patrol more where they used to be.
