RAEFORD, N.C. — The Hoke County Sheriff's Office and other law enforcement agencies made numerous arrests Wednesday morning in what they called a drug roundup.

Authorities raided a mobile home park near Raeford with search warrants on 10 different homes after conducting a year-long undercover operation, according to Sheriff Hubert Peterkin.

During the course of the operation, officers conducted controlled buys of narcotics, such as crack cocaine and marijuana, as well as firearms. The operation targeted 15 or more people who were accuse of working in conspiracy together.

"Growing up here in Hoke County, I remember this area when it wasn't like this," Peterkin said. "So we know how important it was to get in here, and with all the children in this area, to try to rid this community of all the drug activity going on."
