Alice's Mad Tea party is April 23 at Northgate Mall

Northgate Mall in Durham is teaming up with some familiar storybook characters to teach good manners.

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, in Northgate's Center Court, characters from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland will join kids ages 5 to 10 for a tea party and etiquette class. Alice will lead the lesson as the Mad Hatter offers some special "instructions."

The free afternoon of etiquette, sing-a-longs, coloring, and photo opportunities will benefit Book Harvest, a Durham-based nonprofit that provides books for Triangle children in need. The event includes tea from The Pretzel Twister, cookies, and other tea party treats.

Admission to the tea party is free with online registration, however attendees are asked to bring a book to donate to Book Harvest on the day of the event. Northgate's website has more information, including details on registration.
