Northern Cass superintendent arrested on suspicion of drunken driving

Posted August 15

— With the start of a new school year just around the corner, the superintendent of the Northern Cass School District is facing a drunken driving charge, according to court records.

Cory Steiner, 42, of Arthur, N.D., was arrested in Cass County over the weekend.

Northern Cass High School Principal Derrick Bopp said he just learned of the arrest Tuesday, Aug. 15.

Bopp said the district has a regular school board meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 16, and he suspects it will be discussed then.

Asked how the arrest might affect leadership in the district, Bopp said: "I don't have a feel for that direction yet."

The first day of school for Northern Cass students is Wednesday, August. 23.

Steiner is set to be arraigned on a misdemeanor DUI charge on Thursday, Aug. 31, in Cass County District Court.
