North Hills Kids kicks off for season next week
Posted March 27, 2014
It's hard to believe, but North Hills Kids' open play starts Wednesday for the season.
The popular spring and summer program offers free play for kids outside in North Hills Commons, the area next to Starbucks and Ben & Jerry's. North Hills brings out big, colorful foam blocks that the kids love to play with and often includes other special activities offered by local businesses and groups. Stay tuned for details about when Go Ask Mom will be out there soon!
There are some changes to the schedule this year.
Open play on the Commons will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday from April 2 to Aug. 29.
They'll add Tuesday to the schedule in June after North Hills opens its new Midtown Park (on the Harris Teeter side). A grand opening celebration for the venue, which will feature a stage and water play, is set for 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., April 26 and April 27. North Hills will offer kids programming there from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesdays, from June 17 to Aug. 19.
And there's more! Midtown Park will host free workouts on Wednesday evenings starting April 23. These would make for a fun moms' night out event followed by dinner out. North Hills' popular beach music series starts April 17 back on the Commons. The Midtown Farmers' Market opens April 19 on the Commons. And a new monthly bluegrass series will launch at Midtown Park on May 18.
Again, I'll have more soon about when Go Ask Mom will be out there with lots of fun free activities for kids and their parents. And I'll have more about Midtown Park as well, including details about that water feature.
North Hills is near the intersection of Six Forks Road and the Beltline in Raleigh.
