North Carolina is 25th best state, report says

— North Carolina landed in the middle of the pack in the U.S. News and World Report's overall ranking of the best states.

The company said it ranked states based on thousands of data points to measure how well they are performing for their residents. The ranking took into account data from health care, education, infrastructure, the economy and each state's government, among others.

North Carolina earned the No. 25 slot on the list, edging out Wyoming at No. 26 and Hawaii at No. 27.

Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Minnesota, North Dakota and Washington made up the top five, respectively. New Mexico, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana rounded out the bottom five.
