— The North Carolina Democratic Party is promoting the party's No. 2 administrative leader to its top job heading into the critical 2016 elections.
Hundreds of party activists meeting Saturday at a Pittsboro high school elected Patsy Keever of Asheville as chair. She got a majority of the votes cast among the five seeking to succeed outgoing Chair Randy Voller.
Keever has been 1st vice chair since 2013. She's been a state House member, county commissioner and two-time congressional candidate.
Keever faces challenges similar to Voller. The Democrats are in the minority in state government and North Carolina's congressional delegation. The party is also well behind Republicans in fundraising.
The next general election is a big one, with races for president, governor and U.S. Senate on the ballot.

Cooper is already being prepped. He is living at the foot of Jim Hunt. All we need is a sixth Jim Hunt term.

As poor as McCrory is he will be head and shoulders better than Cooper, who is extremely left of Ted Kennedy.

Keever - please start prepping Cooper now for the Guv race.....it's going to be a knock down drag out affair that will consume Pitty Pat for most of 2016.

if you want to give your hard earned money away, vote Democrat, if you want to keep you money in your pocket, vote Republican, govt has limited roles and responsibility, it cannot keep growing and growing in an attempt to take care of all your needs. as Margaret Thatcher said, "Socialism is a great thing until you run out of other people's money" Keep the Republicans in Raleigh, limit growth of government and taxes. Raleigh and your local county seats are like vacuum cleaners sucking your money, be careful !

I was speaking of the NORTH CAROLINA democratic party. The party of Terry Sanford, Luther Hodges, Dan Moore. Not the national party that has taken over and destroyed what was once a great organization.

Most republicans in NC today, that is those who are from here, would have been democrats in 1960.

This is great news for Republicans in NC. I disagree with you, I think she is the true voice of the Democratic Party in NC, the extremist party, the party of BluePrint NC. The party whose goal, as they stated, is the evisceration of Republicans, no matter how it divides and degrades NC.

Until the real, NC democrats take the party back those in control today might as well sell the big old house, disband and go home. As presently constituted the Democratic Party in NC is done.
