No refunds coming from Soul Music Festival
Organizers of a concert in Raleigh have no plans to offer refunds after many of the advertised headliners failed to show.
Posted — UpdatedThe Soul Music Festival 2009 Aug. 29 at the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion at Walnut Creek promised performances by Charlie Wilson, Musiq Soulchild, Ginuwine, Monica, Legends of Hip Hop: Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane, Rob Base and Chubb Rock.
Some concertgoers left disappointed, telling WRAL News that the event started late and lacked many of the advertised acts. People lined up at the box office that evening seeking their money back, and some were given refunds on the spot, witnesses said.
Concert organizers issued a release Friday outlining the refund policies of the facility and its ownership, Live Nation. They offered this quote from the Live Nation Web site: "Live Nation Tickets, per the terms and conditions of purchase, does not offer refunds or exchanges, except in the event that the show is canceled or postponed."
Any refunds that were given, the organizers said, were the result of a "an overzealous attempt to appease a small number of patrons on the day of the event" by employees of Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion and were not authorized by Live Nation or the concert organizers.
