Nobody was injured after a plane flipped during an emergency landing Thursday afternoon in Harnett County.

Authorities said the single-engine, fixed wing plane landed in a cotton field about a quarter mile east of U.S. Highway 421 and a quarter mile away from Crawford Road in Dunn.

The plane landed upside down, but authorities did not say what prompted the emergency landing or caused the aircraft to flip.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol and Harnett County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the incident and the FAA has been notified.
