No foul play in death of Bragg paratrooper

print friendly

Police say there's no evidence of foul play in the death of a paratrooper from western Michigan who was found dead at Fort Bragg.

Post officials say 37-year-old Sgt. 1st Class Jeffrey Griffey of Byron Center was found unresponsive Friday at an apartment in Fayetteville.

Mlive.com (http://bit.ly/S4MeLE ) reports that Fayetteville police Detective Michael Hardin says Griffey was found dead on the bathroom floor and says there's nothing to suggest he was the victim of a crime.

Hardin says police are awaiting toxicology results to try to learn what killed Griffey.

Griffey was part of the Army's 82nd Airborne Division. He enlisted in 1993 and served on two combat deployments, first in Iraq in 2003-2004 and then in Afghanistan in 2007.
