FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — No charges will be filed against two men involved in an altercation and shooting Monday night in the Gates Four community in Cumberland County, sheriff's office officials said.

According to investigators, the incident happened at about 8 p.m. in the 6800 block of Towbridge Road after Gerald Hinton Lord, 48, of Fayetteville, pulled a gun on 18-year-old Thomas Earl Jacobs.

Deputies said Lord was delivering a carry-out order for a local delivery company when he pulled into the wrong driveway. Jacobs asked Lord to get off of his property, and the men exchanged words before Lord drove away.

After making his delivery, Lord returned to Jacobs' residence and put a gun in the teen's face, authorities said.

The gun went off twice, hitting Jacobs in the neck and Lord in the forearm. Jacobs was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, and Lord was taken to Womack Army Medical Center.

No other information about the shooting was immediately available.
