Toddler killed in Pitt County house fire, home total loss

A toddler was killed in a Pitt County house fire on New Year’s Day, according to the Farmville fire chief.

Crews were called to a house fire on Stantonsburg Road around 3:30 p.m.

Fire Chief Tommy Brady confirmed to WITN that a one-year-old boy died in the fire and said the home is a total loss.

Brady says the fire was within Farmville’s jurisdiction but is being turned over to other authorities.

Officials have not said what caused the fire.
