Ellmers named to lead health care panel

Posted January 31, 2011

Second District Congresswoman Renee Ellmers

— North Carolina's newest member of Congress has already been named to chair a health care panel.

Republican Rep. Renee Ellmers will lead a subcommittee on the topic in the House Small Business Committee.

“As a nurse and small business owner, Renee Ellmers will be a great resource as the committee examines ways we can improve the health care law without creating new problems for American entrepreneurs,” House Small Business Committee Chairman Sam Graves, R-Mo., said in a statement.

Ellmers campaigned on a promise to repeal President Barack Obama's health care law. She and her husband run a medical clinic in Dunn.

She said she would work to promote economic growth and private sector job creation.

Who WOULD benefit? COULD be those as-yet-undisclosed "Americans for Job Security" folks....what a streak of luck for them that they just HAPPENED to stumble across an unknown underdog candidate in the 2nd Congressional District.... who also HAPPENED to be running against "Pelosi's Lapdog"..... who also HAPPENED to be in the lucrative Health Care field with her Doctor husband.....who also took the $360,000 dollar attack ad campaign with no idea who wrote the checks. Right. These "Americans for Job Security" folks couldn't POSSIBLY want a return on that money, they just did it to promote JOB SECURITY, plus they are all really nice, selfless people who like to spend their money helping out complete strangers under the condition that they don't ask where the money came from. Yep! nothin' about THAT process that ain't transparent! ;)

6079 SMITH W-Good post. Let's see, both Ellmers and her husband work in health care. Who would benefit from any rule changes she could get for the health care industry? Patients or doctors? Let me guess.

"They kept their current coverage and did not opt for ObamaCare."

What are you talking about??There is no "Obamacare"!!!!! There is no public option. Only a mandate and some rules insurance companies must follow. People are still free to pick private insurance companies. And yes, she is a hypocrite when she takes government provided and payed for healthcare and votes to deny it for others.

Mission Accomplished......and it only cost them $360,000 dollars. ;)

A Representative with hands-on in the Healthcare Industry actually be used on a healthcare panel. Don't look now but it seems to me that a little common sense on who should be on what comittee is being exercised. A healthcare professional that ran a small business or a lawyer? You tell me?

Mandated health care is unconstitutional, Ellmers campaigned against Obama Care, and she is named to lead a health care panel and accepted....are you serious?????

  • mep Jan 31, 2011

Now if only those Washington bobble-heads that helped push Obamacare will listen to her, and realize what a disaster it is.

"I want the same Federal Health Care Plan she gets. I guess "socialized" medicine is OK as long as you're benefitting. Apparently its OK for her to take it while denying similar plans for others. What a hypocrite!!!!"

Actually the hypocrites are the members of Congress that voted for ObamaCare and Obama for signing it into law. They kept their current coverage and did not opt for ObamaCare.
Ellmers does not support ObamaCare so it makes sense that she would not utilize it.
