'Bitterly cold' Tuesday; snow Thursday morning?
North Carolina residents are in for a wild winter weather ride this week as "bitterly cold" temperatures dominate Tuesday and forecasters watch for the potential of snow on Thursday morning and possibly Saturday, according to WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner.
Posted — Updated"No matter what you wear, it's hard to stay warm on a morning like this," Gardner said. "It will remain cold and windy all day."
Tuesday's highs will only reach the lower 30s, with wind chills frequently dipping into the teens at times in the afternoon.
Wednesday will be less windy with slightly milder temperatures, but the expected high is only 38 degrees.
Thursday is the day to watch as some snowfall could start around dawn in the Triangle.
"On Thursday, certainly we could see this beginning as snow in some places," Gardner said. "We have the potential for some accumulation before it changes over, but it does look like it’ll change over to a wintry mix and rain across most of the region."
"The bottom line is, it could be some sort of wintry mess for us beginning early on Thursday," she added.
Friday will be mainly cloudy with some spotty light rain or drizzle and a high of 43 degrees.
Saturday will be cloudy and chilly at 40 degrees with a possibility of some rain or snow.
Sunday will be partly cloudy, breezy and cold with a high of 39 degrees.
