RICHMOND, VA. — MeadWestvaco is bringing 128 jobs to Virginia by relocating its Center for Packaging Innovation from North Carolina.

The company says it plans to invest $10 million to relocate the center to the Richmond area. The center is now located on North Carolina State University's Centennial Campus.

MeadWestvaco chief executive John A. Luke Jr. says the move will allow the packaging, specialty chemical and land management company to take advantage of its new headquarters in Richmond.

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and Richmond Mayor Dwight C. Jones both praised the decision to relocate the center to Virginia.

MeadWestvaco did not immediately return a telephone call Monday seeking information on when the relocation would occur.
