Ex-Easley aide Poole to surrender Thursday
A former aide to North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley is scheduled to make a first court appearance this week after being charged with 51 corruption counts.

An arrest warrant issued for Poole has not yet been fulfilled, and federal authorities have said he will have a chance to turn himself in to authorities.
Poole faces a range of charges, including extortion, bribery and money laundering. The indictment released last week says Poole benefited financially while helping expedite coastal developments that had been approved by state regulators.
Poole was Easley's former special counsel and aide during the governor's two terms.
