WHITEVILLE, N.C. — A grand jury has indicted a North Carolina man on three counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of a groom and two others in a wreck less than an hour before the wedding.
John Kelley, 43, of Whiteville, was initially charged with driving while impaired in the wreck April 18 on N.C. Highway 214. State troopers arrested him late Sunday at his home.
Troopers say Kelley's Chrysler Sebring convertible drifted into the opposite lane of the two-lane highway, striking a Honda Prelude head-on.
Killed in the wreck were the groom, Brandon Tedder, 23; best man Brandon Mintz, 19; and groomsman and Tedder's brother, Daniel Sykes, 13.
