Suspect in shooting of Caldwell deputy found dead
The man authorities believe killed a Caldwell County sheriff's deputy last weekend has been found dead on his property.

WSOC-TV reported that Skip Brinkley's body was found Wednesday as several hundred law enforcement officers combed his property near Lenoir. Officials said his death was caused by a self-inflicted wound.
Police had mounted a massive search during the week, operating aircraft night and day and delploying officers from several agencies into areas east of Lenoir to comb woods and fields and search buildings.
Caldwell County sheriff's deputy Adam Klutz was fatally shot in the head Sunday while responding to a 911 hang-up call from Brinkley's home. The 25-year-old Klutz died early Saturday morning. Another deputy was saved by his bulletproof vest.
The 32-year-old Brinkley, who also went by the name Larry Wayne Brucke Jr., was a former officer and Iraq War veteran. Officials said he fled shortly after the shooting.
A memorial service for Klutz was held Wednesday afternoon.
