FLAT ROCK, N.C. — The White House says Laura Bush is coming to western North Carolina to visit the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site in Flat Rock.

The National Park Foundation has said it plans to present a $50,000 grant to the historic site Monday to expand the park's junior ranger and youth education programs. Laura Bush will be at the site Monday afternoon.

Carl Sandburg was a Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and writer. He moved to a North Carolina farm after launching his literary career in the Midwest. He died in 1967, and the historic site now preserves the Sandburg home.
