National Weather Service says storm blows cars off I-40

The National Weather Service reported that cars were blown off Interstate 40 near Greensboro as the result of what law officers said was a tornado.

The weather service reported late Thursday night that law enforcement officers reported a tornado 6 miles northwest of Greensboro. The storm was said to have blown cars off I-40 near N.C. 68 and not far from Piedmont Triad International Airport.

WFMY-TV in Greensboro also reported that a house was damaged in Clemmons, in Forsyth County, but it was not immediately clear what caused the damage.

Portions of north-central North Carolina were under a tornado watch from Thursday afternoon into early Friday morning.
