— Forecasters said Tuesday morning's temperatures are expected to be within a few degrees of the freezing mark.

The National Weather Service said a freeze warning was expected to remain in effect for parts of central North Carolina until mid-morning. Officials said temperatures could drop so low that it could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.

Despite the low temperatures, forecasters said the region is still experiencing warmer-than-usual temperatures.

Forecasters said the cold weather is the result of clear skies, light wind and cold pressure.

When it comes to Snow - N.C. has really had a dry patch (as my Grandmother used to say). I to would love to see a big Snow Storm this year. Just like that one about 3 or 4 years ago. Remember? When they were calling for 3 to 4 inches of Snow overnight and the Triangle woke up to 2 feet. Yes that was an inconvience but boy was it fun. Just one this year please!!!!

Okay, it was record-breaking heat 2 weeks ago... Now some are surprised to get a frost at the end of October? Hasn't anyone heard of the phrase "frost on the pumpkins"?

Dont even try to contact PSNC about the cold. I have tried for a week to get an appointment for gas turn-on. The refuse to help and are leaving myself and 3 kids without heat until Friday. I have begged and pleaded and offered to pay after hours fees with no success.

I suspect this will be a bad Winter with lots of cold temperatures, ice and snow. We're overdue for one and after all this extra warm weather and drought we're also due for some cold temperatures and precipitation.
