— Republican vice presidential contender Paul Ryan will campaign in Greenville during next week's Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's campaign announced Saturday that Ryan will speak at the East Carolina University Student Recreation Center at 1 p.m. Monday. Tickets for the event are being distributed online.

Ryan's plan to draw attention in North Carolina the day that the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte starts isn't surprising. Vice President Joe Biden had planned to spend two days campaigning in Florida during the GOP convention, but Hurricane Isaac forced him to cancel.

One thing is for certain, Obama has no new plan, is not concerned with deficits, nor the $16 trillion dollar debt, nor controlling Medicare costs (even though he shifted $500 billion to Obamacare) nor the insolvency of Social Security... and he sure is not concerned with the economy or jobs.... our current economy and unemployment numbers prove this.

Here's the CBO analysis of Ryan's plan to balance the budget: raise taxes and cut military spending and education by 75%, cut Medicare 50%

"........Set all other spending (excluding that for Social Security and interest) on a path that would cause such spending to decline sharply as a share of GDPfrom 12 percent in 2010 to 6 percent in 2022 and 3 percent by 2050; the proposal does not specify the changes to government programs that might be made in order to produce that path........Set revenues on a path that would cause them to rise from 15 percent of GDP in 2010 to 18 percent in 2022 and 19 percent in 2030 and beyond. No specifications were provided to CBO of the particular revenue provisions that might generate that path."
