ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Evangelist Billy Graham was released Tuesday from Mission Hospital in Asheville where he had spent two days being treated for bronchitis.

The 93-year-old Graham was admitted overnight Saturday with a lung infection.

Doctors said Graham responded quickly to treatment. "Despite this illness, he remains remarkably healthy for a 93-year-old-man," said Mission's Dr. Daniel Fertel in a statement.

Graham was in good spirits and was able to visit with family throughout his hospital stay. Upon his release, he issued a statement praising hospital staff and thanking those around the world who offered prayers for his recovery.

Graham was hospitalized for pneumonia last November. His staff says the evangelist's health has been good since then, though he spends most of his time at his home in Montreat, N.C., where he is working on an upcoming book.
