— The Dare County Sheriff's Office issued a warrant late Monday for a missing Ohio man after a body found at the Outer Banks was identified as his girlfriend.

A person called 911 Saturday after discovering the body in a trash bag and realizing it could be Lynn Jackenheimer.

Jackenheimer, 33, went to Hatteras Island last week with her on-and-off boyfriend, Nate Summerfield, her 13-year-old daughter and their 3-year-old son but didn't return with them. Her body was found in Frisco, about 20 to 30 miles from where she disappeared.

Capt. Charles Nieman of the Dare County Sheriff's Office said the medical examiner had not determined how Jackenheimer died.

Authorities in Ashland, Ohio, said that Summerfield returned the children to his family and has not been seen since. His brother called 911 and told police that Summerfield told him he strangled Jackenheimer.

Summerfield is now wanted on a murder charge.

It's in very poor taste and disrespectful to her, and her family to make claims such as " makes no sense to go on vacation with him unless she wanted a man to "take care of her" (trade cash for sex)" and guess at the man's motivations for killing this woman "She must have been cheating" etc. Prayers to her family. I'm glad at least her body was found, now the killer needs to be caught.

What a tragedy! Just glad that that they did find her body. May they get this killer and give him life in prison. Whoever raises her children I pray they shower them with love every day and be good and kind to them. Pray for these children who no longer has a mother and pray for the person (s) that will take care of them.

storchheim- She could have been trying to provide happy family memories for her child of family vacations with the whole family.

  • Obamanation Jul 17, 2012

Once again, storchheim hits the nail on the head. Well said.

The police have been searching for him since the 911 call from his brother was received. First as a person of interest and then on the murder charge. Easy to be an armchair policeman!

Southern Girl, it makes no sense to go on vacation with him unless she wanted a man to "take care of her" (trade cash for sex). This is a disgustingly regular occurrence: woman picks a man who often has a record or who has made one since they've been together, makes a kid with him, married or not, will not get out and stay out of his life and insist he do the same, he kills her.

As for "showing respect": I respect the man or woman who respects themselves enough not to scrape the bottom of the barrel just to have a bed partner and an ATM.

Who here doesn't think this guy had a history of criminal behavior? Strangling isn't exactly a "I lost it and picked up a gun" murder; it's up close, manual, takes quite some time, and requires breaking bones in the neck.

erderr4533- where does Obamanation say she was cheating? All I see was she made a phone call he would not like. If he was as controlling as it appears, he could hate her being on the phone with anyone (even her parents) because anyone could be trying to remove her from his control.

  • erderr4533 Jul 17, 2012

@Obamanation...don't you think it's in pretty poor taste to post that she was cheating? you don't know that as an absolute and, even if you did, how about a little respect? what i was saying is that it isn't any of OUR,as commenters on a news site, business...the only people it would affect would be the family and it's their decision on if it's going to be made public....assuming that she was unfaithful, and then posting that assumption like it's a fact, is nothing more than low-class...and who knows, maybe the guys just a sadistic tool and you're giving him an out for his behaviour

I feel sorry for the children. Since the guy admitted to strangling her, I hope they find him. When they do find him, I hope they lock him up and throw away the key so he doesn't do it again. On the other hand, I'm glad that they found her body so the family can be at peace and move on.

Motive? She was probably seeing someone else. He's a control freak and it probably pushed him over the edge.
