Frisco, N.C. — The Dare County Sheriff's Office issued a warrant late Monday for a missing Ohio man after a body found at the Outer Banks was identified as his girlfriend.
A person called 911 Saturday after discovering the body in a trash bag and realizing it could be Lynn Jackenheimer.
Jackenheimer, 33, went to Hatteras Island last week with her on-and-off boyfriend, Nate Summerfield, her 13-year-old daughter and their 3-year-old son but didn't return with them. Her body was found in Frisco, about 20 to 30 miles from where she disappeared.
Capt. Charles Nieman of the Dare County Sheriff's Office said the medical examiner had not determined how Jackenheimer died.
Authorities in Ashland, Ohio, said that Summerfield returned the children to his family and has not been seen since. His brother called 911 and told police that Summerfield told him he strangled Jackenheimer.
Summerfield is now wanted on a murder charge.
