FRISCO, N.C. — A person's body was found Saturday on Hatteras Island, where an Ohio woman has been missing after going there on vacation with her boyfriend and children two weeks ago.

Capt. Charles Nieman, with the Dare County Sheriff's Office, said the body was found in the Frisco area after a 911 call about a "suspicious condition" around 4:30 p.m. The body was found off a street about 20 to 30 miles from the Salvo area where Lynn Jackenheimer, 33, of Ashland, Ohio, was last seen on July 4.

The body has not been identified, and authorities would not say if they suspect it belongs to Jackenheimer.

Jackenheimer went to Hatteras Island last week with her on-and-off boyfriend, Nate Summerfield, and her 13-year-old daughter and their 3-year-old son but didn't return with them. Authorities said that Summerfield brought the children to the Ashland, Ohio, area and left them with his family before disappearing himself.

His brother called 911 and told police that Summerfield told him he strangled Jackenheimer. Authorities have named Summerfield a person of interest in the case.

According to CBS News, Jackenheimer had been hesitant about taking the trip, and Summerfield has a prior domestic violence conviction involving her.
