Missing Ohio woman's family wants to help search in NC

Posted July 12, 2012

— Relatives of an Ohio woman who disappeared during a vacation have headed to North Carolina to help search for her.

Authorities say Lynn Jackenheimer, 33, of Ashland, went to Hatteras Island on the Outer Banks last week with her on-and-off boyfriend, Nate Summerfield, and her 13-year-old daughter and their 3-year-old son but didn't return with them.

Summerfield's brother called police to tell them that Summerfield told him he strangled Jackenheimer.

According to CBS News, Jackenheimer had been hesitant about taking the trip, and Summerfield has a prior domestic violence conviction involving her.

She has been missing since July 4.

Her sister told WEWS-TV in Cleveland that the family wanted to help police resume the search Thursday.

Police also are looking for Summerfield, who is described as a person of interest.

Is there a plate number, make, model of the car/truck he drives?

This man is not really a person of interest is he? No one knows where he is, his ex-girl friend is missing and he told his brother he choked her. He appears to be a murderer on the run or taking the time away to hide her body better. She could be anywhere by now or just riding around in the trunk. I hope they catch him soon.

I'd start by searching around the Alligator River, myself.

I read before that they were in salvo which is a pretty remote area. We've been there before on a holiday weekend and there were very few people around.

The outer banks is a HUGE area. How about some more details as to where they were. The cops should know. Credit card receipts. The kids description of places they visited. Etc. Let the public know what area of the outer banks they are talking about. Manteo? Duck? Corolla? Kitty Hawk? South of that?

Would like to see more air time on this. Especially in the North Carolina Area.
