RALEIGH, N.C. — Gov. Beverly Perdue signed an executive order Saturday clarifying how state agencies should work with the military.

The order requires state agencies to work closely with the military to avoid potential conflicts across the state and to designate a staff member to liaison with the military.

Agencies must also notify both military bases and local governments of projects that might affect military operations and bases. Additionally state agencies must take into account the military's needs when issuing permits.
