Perdue unhurt in emergency landing at RDU
A state plane carrying Gov. Beverly Perdue made an emergency landing Friday at Raleigh-Durham International Airport after experiencing problems with its landing gear, Perdue spokeswoman Chris Mackey said.

Perdue was on her way to a furniture industry trade show in High Point to announce that Ashley Furniture plans to open an $80 million manufacturing and distribution center in Davie County, creating 550 jobs over the next five years.
The 1998 Cessna Citation Bravo exhibited unusual vibrations as the landing gear was retracted shortly after the 12:35 p.m. takeoff, and the pilot decided to return to RDU, Mackey said. Before landing, an indicator light regarding hydraulic pressure went on, she said.
As a precaution, the pilot asked to have emergency equipment standing by the runway for the landing, she said, but the plane landed safely at 1:05 p.m.
Maintenance workers were inspecting the plane Friday afternoon.
Perdue planned to remain in Raleigh Friday and attend the opening of the Nature Research Center at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, Mackey said.
