Work experience: Various management and consulting positions with Duke Energy, 1979-2008; Moore & Van Allen law firm, 2009-present.
Political experience: Charlotte City Council, at-large member, 1989-95; Charlotte mayor, 1995-2009; N.C. governor candidate, 2008.
Family: Married to Tom, three children
Education: Bachelor's degree from Pfeiffer College, 1975
Work experience: Homemaker; co-founder of THEA, a homeschool support group; various local and regional administrative positions with La Leche League.
