Just spotted:  Former Governor Jim Hunt, hustling into the legislative building.

"I've got to talk to some of the Senate leaders," he said.

About what?

"What you do think?" he laughed, confirming it's Smart Start.

The House Education budget proposal released yesterday would put a 20% dent in Smart Start, a program Hunt established during his time in the Governor's Mansion, and would combine its services with the More at Four program, which would also face a steep cut.

They should rename them Smart Stop and No More at Four. Spend the money for the next 99 week ESC program.
