Auditor hospitalized after appendectomy

State Auditor Beth Wood underwent an appendectomy Thursday and will be hospitalized for a few days, according to her office.

Wood, who is running for re-election in November against Wake County Board of Education member Debra Goldman, released a statement saying she would be out of the office for at least a week.

"Everything is OK, and a full recovery is expected," she said. "I have great faith in our highly capable staff to continue our mission in my absence.”
