State Auditor Beth Wood underwent an appendectomy Thursday and will be hospitalized for a few days, according to her office.
Wood, who is running for re-election in November against Wake County Board of Education member Debra Goldman, released a statement saying she would be out of the office for at least a week.
"Everything is OK, and a full recovery is expected," she said. "I have great faith in our highly capable staff to continue our mission in my absence.”
In an interview Tuesday, May 21, Gov. Pat McCrory said he is pleased with the progress on the state budget and tax reform so far.
