First Lady to give NCA&T Commencement Address

First Lady Michelle Obama will give a May 12 commencement address at NCA&T in Greensboro. According to a White House news release, she'll also speak at Virginia Tech and Oregon State University this summer. From the release:

"The next day, the First Lady will travel to North Carolina to speak at North Carolina A&T, part of the rich legacy of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) that have been instrumental in educating generations of African Americans. The President and First Lady both have recognized the important contributions of HBCUs across the country and have delivered commencement addresses to highlight their successes."

 While this is big news for the university, it fits into a pattern of high-profile Obama administration officials giving extra attention to North Carolina in an election year during which the state figures to be important.
