Tedesco eyeing DPI?

Published: 2011-11-17 12:39:00

Wake County Board of Education member John Tedesco isn't ruling out a 2012 run for state schools superintendent.

Rumors have been circulating for some time that Tedesco will run for the GOP nomination for DPI chief.

Reached by email Thursday, he would neither confirm nor deny those rumors.

"While there are several opportunities for me to consider right now, at this time, my focus is my coming wedding, continued service to the children of Wake County and sharing the holidays with family and friends. In the beginning of the new year, I will evaluate further," Tedesco wrote.

The Department of Public Instruction race is shaping up to be one of 2012's most crowded contests. If Tedesco runs, he'll face primary opposition from Cary teacher Ray Martin and former Monroe City Council candidate Richard Alexander, who've already declared their candidacy.

On the Democratic side, incumbent Superintendent June Atkinson has not yet said whether she'll run for a third term. If she doesn't, Rep. Rick Glazier, D-Cumberland, has said that he may run. Glazier is "double-bunked" with fellow Democratic Rep. Diane Parfitt in the new House redistricting map.

he is only saying this because in another 2 yrs he will be out of a job. No way he could ever win a re-election..

He does not have a chance. Better stay home and save his money so he doesn't loose another home.

heck no

I used to sit back and read the stories - glad he was Wake County's problem.

Now he could be a problem for all.

John Tedesco,

Do us all a favor and GO AWAY!! You are not wanted here.

This will be one vote I will certainly not miss so I can be sure to put my vote to his opponent! Who would vote in a guy that can't work well with his peers and resorts to name calling? He is so immature.

He is as qualified as Barrack Hussein is. It's funny that over the last few years when you look at test scores and graduation rate Wake County has not suffered the same decline as most other counties actually some have improved. You can point fingers and say what you want but, the changes the last school board made were positive and beneficial. As far as reassignment,,,,,, who wants to go to a school in some other community? Ride the bus for over an hour?? Play sports on the other side of the county???? Teachers complain that they can not get a parent to come to a conference, maybe if there kids don’t go to school on the other side of the county maybe their would be more parental involvement. You Dems keep complaining about the racial divide that these board members caused,,, good try but, people segregate themselves by moving into specific neighborhoods.

He nothing but a media hog he loves to be on tv.

This has to be joke....

WOW!!!! This just proves that the modern GOP has lost its mind. Almost unbelievable. Almost.
