McCrory hints, but doesn't yet declare

Former Charlotte mayor and 2008 GOP gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory has been campaigning for months, raising around a million dollars for an expected rematch against Gov. Bev Perdue. But so far, he has not officially announced his candidacy for the 2012 governor's race.

McCrory's new website, unveiled today, doesn't change that. But it drops some mighty big hints.

In the one-minute video featured on the new site, McCrory introduces his new dog, Bo/Mo (see below), and tells his supporters to check back soon — "good announcements" are coming "in the near future."

"Mo might want to move to Raleigh," he concludes.

UPDATE:  A keen-eared reader points out that McCrory seems to call his dog "Bo" at the beginning of the video, but refers to him twice as "Mo" at the end. The quote above has been corrected.

UPDATE 2:  McCrory spokesman Brian Nick says the dog's name is Elmo, or "Mo" for short. In an email. Nick said, "Pat clearly says Mo three times."

Watch and decide for yourself — the video is here.

(A side note: Having covered McCrory in 2008, I have a hard time imagining him forgetting his dog's name. He's a dog lover all the way.)
