House lawmakers have passed HB 156: The Honest Lottery Act. The bill that restricts where and how the lottery could advertise. The bill would also require more disclosures regarding the odds of winning. The measure is now pending in the Senate.

 

Most legislative Republicans opposed the lottery's creation in 2005. While few say they would move to abolish the state-sponsored gambling enterprise, GOP leaders say it is possible that more restrictions could be put on the games. For example, one potential bill would require the lottery to more fully disclose its odds of winning in advertising. 

Bills and status: 

The House has passed HB 97: Lottery Funds Used for Digital Learning. The bill would allow lottery money currently set aside for school construction for technology needs. The measure is now pending the Senate.
