2010 North Carolina State Fair Winner Search

A couple of days ago in my roundup I mentioned a Garner family which has won a ton of Fair ribbons over the last six years. I wondered how you could find out exactly what they had won. It must be an impressive list.

The folks at the Fair site must have read my mind, because when I stopped by this morning I found the Winner Search. It's available at

You can search by name, category, county, or state. (Yes, state. Apparently there were two winners from PA.) If you search by name, you'll get a list of all the competitions for which that name won. (In the case of Tammy Kennedy that was an impressive 29 contests!) For counties, all winners from a particular county, and so on.

The information is easily browsable on the Web site, or you can download it in XLS format.

I'm tempted to get out the spreadsheet, get the number of winners from each county, and then calculate the number of winners per capita for each county in North Carolina. Which is the craftiest county in NC? I think we'd be surprised!
