Find your food before you go

The NC State Fair Food Finder

The NC State Fair is pretty big, and you haven't been many times before it can be pretty overwhelming.  Or sometimes you have so much you want to do you want to plan it all out in advance.

You may want to try the tool on the NC State Fair Web site that lets you search for rides, food, or just general information. Check it out at http://www.ncstatefair.org/2010/General/FoodFinder.htm.

When you first look at the finder it'll be covered with place markers, but you can either filter those by kind of marker (food, for example) or do a search for a keyword. I did a search for pickle and found all the places I remembered seeing Kool-Aid Pickles. On the other hand, I searched for both bacon and pig and did not find the two booths where I remembered chocolate-covered bacon was being sold. So you may have to do some experimenting with your search, and even then you may not find everything.

Your search results will be a map of the fairgrounds and any place markers that match your result. Click on the marker and you'll get an information bubble about that vendor.

Ah-HA! I have found the deep-fried pumpkin pie vendor. Off for a taste test...
