A couple of months ago I wrote in Tech Talk about Twitter in the context of Hurricane Gustav - how people were using social media (and Twitter) to pass around news and resources about the storm. Now I want to mention Twitter in a more fun context -- the North Carolina State Fair.
The Fair folks have a Twitter account at http://twitter.com/ncstatefair . They're using the account to announce contests, make announcements about blog posts and activities, and to respond to readers. Drop by and take a look at the chatter.
Also, WRAL will be Twittering the Fair this year as well. Visit http://twitter.com/wral_at_fair for our updates. Note that there isn't a lot there YET ... but the Fair doesn't start until Thursday.
Hey, while we're talking about WRAL and Twitter, don't forget to check out WRAL's Nate Johnson on Twitter at http://twitter.com/nsj. He talks about weather, he talks about life at WRAL, he talks about his own life, he talks about Rachael Ray selling dog food -- it spans the spectrum, really.
You don't need to have a Twitter account to visit those pages, but you do if you want to send a message to either one of those accounts. Just four more days until Turkey Legs and Whac-a-Mole!
