State Fair Roundup (Oct. 18)

Posted Updated

I played a few games on the Midway yesterday for the first time in years. My discovery? I am strangely good at Whac-A-Mole.

Bear Country is behind Dorton Arena in the west corner, and it's still the best bear for your buck. But perhaps mid-morning is not the best time to visit it -- the bears were asleep in an extremely cute (but slightly boring) pile.

What's with the giant ties with slogans on them?

Heritage Circle (down by the forge and the apple cider) seems to have an extra number of benches this year -- a good place to relax if you want to sit in the sunshine and listen to a bluegrass band. There's also a path up behind the ticket booth/restrooms that has some benches.

Tuesday and Wednesday were TERRIFIC attendance days at the Fair, but I'm not convinced that a million people are going to come through the gates...

Hey, I've got plenty more pictures to put up! Check 'em out at Flickr.
