New Rules Approved for Animal Expositions at Fairs

Posted Updated

The NC Board of Agriculture has announced that new rules covering animal exhibitions at agricultural fairs have been approved; they take effect September 1.

If you went to the petting zoo last year, these new rules won't surprise you any; according to the press release the new rules include "include hand- washing facilities, a barrier between animal bedding and patrons to reduce contact with manure, increased signage warning of the risks associated with animal contact, and a prohibition on certain items, such as food, drinks, strollers and pacifiers, in animal areas."

So make sure you're done with lunch and your soda before you go over to pet the animals...
