Take a lemonade break

Two unusual lemonades may help cool you off during a couple of warm Fair days.

Tonya's Cookies has peach mango lemonade

When I'm at the Fair and need a drink, I like to stick with unsweet tea or water (and the one cup of fresh apple cider, of course). But it's going to be so warm today and tomorrow you might want to give yourself a little treat in the form of a couple of unusual lemonades.

Over near Kiddieland there's a food booth selling a variety of things including chicken livers. I'm planning to skip those but I really enjoyed the cranberry lemonade that was also available. It's sweet with a tangy cranberry overtone. I found getting one of these and sitting for a while in front of Dorton Arena, watching the people go by, was a great way to take a break. $5 for a large, refills for $2.

In the Kerr Scott building you'll find a booth for Tonya's Cookies. The cookies are good (more about those later) but also good is the peach mango lemonade she had for sale. It's a little thicker and quite a bit sweeter than the cranberry lemonade, and I found a large was probably too large -- I carried it around sipping on it for about an hour! It was really tasty, just too sweet to drink quickly. $4 for 16 ounces, $7 for 32 ounces.

I haven't found a tea yet that beats the tea at the mini donuts place near the Expo Building, but these lemonades are a nice change of pace.
