Military gets new discount at NC State Fair

Posted October 2, 2011

Current and former U.S. military, including active-duty, reserve, National Guard, retired and veteran personnel, can enjoy a new daily discount to the State Fair this year! The new military admission price is $5 every day of the N.C. State Fair, taking place from October 13 to October 23. Spouses and children with military IDs also will be eligible for the discount.

In order to receive the discounted tickets, you will need to present proof of military service at the gate on the day of your visit. These discounted tickets are not available online or in advance.

The fair will be having their Military Appreciation Day, with special activities and performances, on Wednesday, Oct. 19.

Here's a great opportunity to donate some of those free and close to free products we get all the time: On Military Appreciation Day (10/19), you can bring items for military care packages to a drop-off location hosted by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans at Gate 8 of the fairgrounds.

SECU is accepting items for care packages through Oct 31. You can get a list of items needed at any branch and drop them back off and they will get them to the troops.
