A Maryland man has been charged after Fayetteville police determined someone had been hacking into automated teller machines at local businesses, police said Monday.

Devawn Jamal Walsh, 23, of Mitchellville, Md., was charged Friday with four counts of felony accessing of a computer and one count of misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was being held Monday in the Cumberland County jail under $30,000 in bonds.

Police said Walsh was responsible for stealing an undisclosed amount of cash from ATMs on numerous occasions.

he's been watching too much tv. To think he could get away with that! hahaha

He's apparently got a lot of computer knowledge. It would be nice if people like that would put that ability to good use instead of trying to milk ATM's for dope money.....dsalter

Interesting! All thieves are junkies and all painters are alcoholics. Where did I miss this in the story?

He'll likely be locked up for years while violent criminals get timed served and probation. SMH

afternoondliter: No, he was intelligent. Did you not read any of the other comments? Anyone can pull this off, even a stoned criminal.

Sounds like a fairly intelligent young man. Sadly, strength of intellect doesn't necessarily mean strength of character. I hope this serves as a wake up call for him.
