Fayetteville police arrested a man they believe pulled out a gun and shot three people outside a bar early Saturday.

Police said that a disturbance started in the parking lot of Lucky's Irish Pub, 3624 Ramsey St., around 2 a.m. Police haven't said what sparked the disturbance.

Kenneth Andrew Mantoux, 26, of Fayetteville, started firing a gun, police said, and bullets struck Brian McCutcheon, 23, Aaron Griffin, 23, and Chris Varela, 25.

Griffin, a Fort Bragg soldier, was in critical condition after undergoing emergency surgery at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. McCutcheon, also a Fort Bragg soldier, was treated and released, and Varela, a civilian who works at Fort Bragg, was in good condition Saturday night.

Mantoux was charged with two counts each of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

He was placed in the Cumberland County jail under a $560,000 secured bond.

Mantoux has a 2006 conviction for misdemeanor drug possession in New Hanover County, according to state Department of Correction records.
