Abuse claims investigated at Raleigh group home

print friendly

Raleigh police are investigating abuse allegations at a group home for children on Red Quartz Drive, according to a search warrant returned Monday.

A caretaker at the home, at 1929 Red Quartz Drive, told WRAL News that the claims were false and were initiated by a troubled juvenile who was living there.

No one has been arrested or charged in connection with the investigation.

It makes me laugh how everyone is saying "this needs to be investigated!!". The title of this story is "Abuse claims investigated..." and the first 4 words of the story are "Raleigh police are investigating". I love how everyone thinks they have to tell everybody else how to do their job... even after they're doing it.

Someone such as Geraldo should investigate this. He did such a great job in 1972 at Willowbrook...among uncovering unfavorable conditions at other similiar institutions.

Still wouldn't hurt to check it out thoroughly....I know my brother was in a group home and these folks were crooks. Thankfully though, they were "closed" down.

I know from experience some trouble/mental children/adults in group homes can make a false claim but not all the time. It needs to be investigated before something horrible happens. We don't know the full story, just what we see in type. But that doesn't mean nothing did or did not happen. I have seen abuse not just physical/emotional but taking of money from the people in the group home and the State after being notifed did nothing. They said, "Can't prove anything, your word againist their word". So again the disable person suffers so a group home can get their money and are afraid to say anything else due to threats of either being put out on the streets or worse. Time NC starts checking into these group homes... NOW before it's too late...

What's just soo wonderful is that if it is a false claim (and they happen all the time!), the facility will always have suspicion placed on them, and will be tarnished. No recourse for "reverse victimization." So sad
