State officials have upheld the decision of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol to fire two troopers accused of running outside businesses while on duty.

Trooper Hubert Sealey, 45, and Lt. Michael Faison, 42, were dismissed May 3 following an internal investigation into "non-criminal personnel issues," Highway Patrol officials said. Both men were assigned to Troop B in Fayetteville.

The men appealed their dismissals, but Secretary of Crime Control and Public Safety Reuben Young upheld the moves.

They have 30 days to appeal Young's decision in the Office of Administrative Hearings.

"If they fire these guys, then they should have fired the female trooper who arrested the private investigator that was following her father, a Rocky Mount police sergeant. It is insane that she has been able to keep her job and even more insane that she has received promotions and raises since that incident."----

Oh yeah? So how much do you know about the incident, or were you involved and just angry?

"rcso29- agreed. they should just fire them all and start from scratch."-----

LoL seriously? What will that solve? What about the ones that are out there every day saving people's lives and putting the bad guys in jail the right way? (Which is the VAST majority by the way). Do they need to be fired too? How much would that cost? Lets get real...

What type of businesses were they?

They should start a business providing hands free cellular products for troopers who have genetically attached cell phones on their ears at all times and particularly for the female trooper who did not see me as she rounded the courthouse downtown who was too busy on hers to notice my car as she almost pulled into my path.

We as North Carolina tax payers pay their salary whatever it may be.If they are on the tax payer's tax dollar then they should be doing the job the tax payers pay them to do.
