A Silver Alert for a missing Davidson County woman was canceled Saturday, according to the North Carolina Center for Missing Persons.

Authorities said that Swannee Williams Sexton, 55, who suffers from a cognitive impairment, went missing from 321 N. Main St. in Denton on Saturday and was possibly heading to Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

She was found around 12:30 p.m. seeking treatment at Duke. She was with her family.

Developed in 2007, the Silver Alert system quickly notifies the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
